Visible virals
Visible virals was a project for Liverpool city council by a collection of companies. The Game was one part of an overall campaign to draw attention to the public health annual report and to highlight voices from the Liverpool community.
My role in the project was to design the gameplay and code the game. The focus of the game was to highlight people within the community that did great things they did during the Covid 19 pandemic. The venue chosen was the museum of Liverpool. Based on the shape of the building we decided a game that played like Donkey Kong would be the best fit, we also wanted to highlight people caring for others during the time as well so the choice to make it a delivery game was an easy one.
The game uses a non-contact controller in which the player moves their hands up and down to use. This made it an interesting movement system to code. Like the other Projected games, this one also relies on light and its interaction with the building and within the game itself. However, instead of using light to outline, I focused on darker areas and a single bright light to draw focus.
